The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services – Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Administration (BHDDA) is looking for your feedback about its strategic plan. BHDDA is the state agency that oversees the community mental health system in Michigan and it wants to hear from you and those whom you love and support.
Now is your opportunity to let your voice be heard! If you have thoughts or ideas about the community mental health system in Michigan and want to make them known, then this meeting is for you. The five (5) foundational pillars of BHDDA’s plan are:
I. Ensure everyone have access to behavioral health, mental health and substance use prevention, treatment, services recovery and follow up services for the best quality life.
II. Provide people with outreach, service delivery, and access to behavioral health services at their preferred locations (clinic, community, home) and mechanisms (in person, telehealth, telephone).
III. Provide quality and time efficient patient care transitions from community to residential treatment or institution (hospital, juvenile detention centers, jail) to community with individualized clinical treatment.
IV. Assist people with physical and behavioral health care at the initial appointments through a person-centered approach and inclusion of social determinants of health (economic stability, housing/transportation, education, food, social support).
V. Focus on people having good health outcomes by increasing oversight of the Prepaid Inpatient Health Plans.
