Information on Youth & Teens
- SEEKING YOUTH: National KASA Board and Task Force Application Are you interested in getting involved in the national disability youth movement? Are you between the ages of 12 and 24? Are you interested in learning how to inform youth about their rights, give peer-support and training, and to change systems to include youth voices? If you answered"YES" to these questions, Kids As Self Advocates (KASA) wants YOU! National Kids As Self Advocates [KASA] has positions opening up on the Advisory Board and the Task Force. As a youth-led project National KASA offers opportunities to learn how a project can be led by young people with disabilities and to learn new skills, like how to have a say in what affects you! The KASA Advisory Board and Task Force are two different kinds of leadership groups. The National KASA Board plans activities, works on projects and makes decisions about the national KASA project. They are responsible for the KASA project. The National KASA Task Force will give advice and opinions to the KASA Advisory Board and staff about what information and training youth with disabilities need, work on group projects and has lots of opportunities to learn. To learn more about the National KASA Advisory Board or our National Task Force, what they each do and how to apply, visit KASA at: www.fvkasa.org or email ortizn@fvkasa.org. (Added 3-20-11)

- A Resource Site for Teens: Youthhood. The Youthhood is a free, interactive Web site that young adults and their teachers, parents, and mentors can use to plan for life after high school. Grounded in the principals of universal design, the site addresses the future planning needs of all youth. The concept of Youthhood, as well as its content and activities, is based on current research in positive youth development and transition planning and their impact on post-high school success. The curriculum was developed by the National Center on Secondary Education and Transition (NCSET).
