On Saturday June 10th, 2017 from 7-9:00p.m. the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation is hosting an Interfaith Justice Revival to Benefit the Michigan Council on Crime and Delinquency (MCCD) and particularly their “Raise the Age” campaign – which would prohibit the prosecution of youth as adults and get kids out of adult prisons. MCCD was one of the first, and is one of the most effective, criminal justice reform organizations in Michigan. This event is also an opportunity to welcome MCCD to the area, as they are moving their offices from Lansing to Ann Arbor on June 1st.
Sponsors of this event include a number of the major organizations concerned with criminal justice reform in our area including Friends of Restorative Justice, Citizens for Justice, Nation Outside, the AFSC Michigan Criminal Justice Program, and the Interfaith Council for Justice.
From 7:00-7:30pm we will have an opening reception with light refreshments and staffed display tables, providing an opportunity to see the kinds of criminal justice reform activities MCCD and our other sponsors are engaged in. From 7:30-8:00p.m. we will have time to briefly hear from people whose lives have been dramatically affected by our criminal justice system, and to learn about MCCD’s current work.
Then from 8-9:00pm, we will have live music performed by Hazelette Crosby-Robinson, Dennis Schrantz, Brian Buckner, Sam Clark and others.
