This year’s conference was a great success. Thank you to the 100+ families, professionals and community partners who shared their time and expertise with us for an incredible day of learning and networking!
This year we asked participants to share what they learned, their ah-ha moments or their ‘take aways’ from the event. Comments included:
“If you don’t speak- someone else will for you.” “Speak out for what’s right for our families.” “Learn from your failures.” “Turn mistakes into disasters.” “Only those who risk going too far find out just how far they can go.” “Family voice = family driven” “I appreciate the honesty of Kinetic Effect.” “Family voice is important and can make impact.” “Our voices raised together are POWER!” ” I was empowered and educated on the tools to help families with difficult school issues.” “I learned that culture goes deeper than the media depicts.” “I’m going to speak for my son’s needs because no one else is going to speak for him!” “It is so powerful to hear Barbara and Scott’s story of origin. I feel inspired and motivated to keep pushing forward”. “NEVER GIVE UP!” “Our scars should be seen as beauty marks.” “I learned the power of 25″ ” Push my local CMH to understand the importance of service driven care and the need for advocacy- creating a balance.” “How to enhance parent voice when parents can’t be honest with system partners due to fear for no longer being considered a “good parent”. “YES!
