Organize Your Story or Message to Improve Mental Health Services & Supports, Reduce Stigma or Create Systems Change:
When planning to tell your story here or in other situations it can sometimes be helpful to start by choosing your purpose, or the point you want to make and then adding the experience or details from your life that help to illustrate your point.
Consider focusing your message by answering one or more of these questions:
What have you learned through your experience?
How did you learn it?
What or who has Helped?
What can people in the community better do to support families of kids with mental health
challenges? What specifically could they do more or less of?
What do you think needs to be changed to make mental health services and supports better for
other kids and families?
What from your personal story can inspire others to make changes that will make things easier
for other families?
How can your readers help to reduce the stigma about mental health?
How might they treat people differently?
What can they do to raise awareness?
Do you have examples from your own story where how people treated you or your child affected you?
