Family Action Partnership

The Family Action Partnership (FAP) is funded by Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and ACMH has had the privilege top partner with MDHHS on the work of the Family Action Partnership (FAP) since the early 1990’s.

The overarching goals of the Family Action Partnership are to increase family and youth support opportunities, leadership development, and community education about children’s mental health.

ACMH’s FAP Current Project Goals include:

  • Facilitate family involvement with service providing organizations, collaborative bodies, and system reform activities facilitated through advocacy, education, training and support.
  • Build and maintain a statewide support, education and advocacy network for families of children with serious emotional disturbance.
  • Increase access to family advocacy, support and parent education to underserved families in target areas of the state.
  • Enhance skills and capacity to provide consistent, quality support, involvement, and resources to families in target areas of the state.
  • Support  family leadership across the state and support family advocacy and involvement through creation of Statewide Parent and Youth Advisory Councils.
  • Community education and collaboration.

FAP Supported activities include: Individual Advocacy, Parent/Family Support, Education & Training, Youth Development, Youth Advisory Activities, Collaboration and Networking with local service providers including CMH, DHHS, schools, courts, and relevant private agencies, Participation on inter-agency collaborative bodies, Systems Advocacy for example serving on state and local boards and committees, Community Education & Awareness and Staff Development.
