ACMH January Employee of the Month - Shareen McBride
Shareen serves as a Team Leader in West Michigan and supervises the Muskegon County Parent Support Partner project site. In addition to supervising a project site, she provides peer-delivered parent support to families in Mason, Lake and Oceana Counties.
Shareen has grown tremendously over the past two years. She has demonstrated an ability to manage the day-to-day responsibilities of a project site, provide supportive coaching for new staff, and build collaborative relationships with system partners. She is able to develop authentic partnerships with parents/caregivers and her warmth and genuine compassion make family's feel safe and supported. Shareen has been with ACMH since 2000 and throughout her employment has always upheld and advocated for the mission of ACMH. Thank you, Shareen, for your many years of service to youth, families, and to ACMH. We are privileged to have you as part of our team!
Participants Needed for Research Studies
Michigan State University is currently recruiting participants who have been diagnosed with clinical depression and are currently employed to fill out an ANONYMOUS online survey. The survey takes about 30 minutes to complete and in exchange, participants will receive a $10 AMAZON gift card. This survey has been approved by Michigan State University's Institutional Review Board. Responses will be used for research purposes only and will NOT identify participants in anyway. In order to receive the AMAZON gift card, participants will be taken to a separate website at the end of the survey and submit their email address. They will then receive an online coupon to AMAZON sent to their email address, in an email which will not reference the purpose of the study in any way. What a Difference Family-Driven Makes: Stories of Success and Lessons Learned
Community Psychology's emphasis on citizen participation aligns with the nationwide children's mental health family movement and is clearly evident in communities that have made sustainable system changes. The national family movement has long advocated for the meaningful engagement of families and youth who are the focus population of the federal Children's Mental Health Initiative. Little rigorous research about the experience of families in leadership positions or of their impact on systems of care has been done. In the absence of scientifically acquired evidence, this article offers the reader a glimpse into the authority, influence and credibility earned by four family leaders as well as their impact on local system of care communities.
