I Just Found Out My Child Has a Mental Health Disorder

It can sometimes be a confusing and challenging time when you first find out your child has a mental health disorder. Although it is often a relief to finally know why your child has been struggling, it is also a time when you are trying to better understand your child’s diagnosis and the treatments and supports that are available.  You may also be wondering how you can be actively involved and support your child. This section will help provide some initial information about these topics, as well as, information about what you might expect along your journey.

Accessing mental health services and supports for your child can be confusing at first. You may have multiple appointments with different people and it may be hard to keep track of it all.
