Please join ACMH, families, youth, young adults, community partners, peers, leaders and policymakers for the Association for Children’s Mental Health’s 2024 Youth Mental Health Action Day which will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lansing, MI.
This year’s theme Building Bridges to Wellness: Connecting People and Communities for Youth Mental Health was chosen to highlight connectedness which research shows is a major protective factor for youth and community as young people who feel they belong are much likely to thrive!
Our program will feature an engaging keynote session, informative table topic discussions, opportunities to network and share experiences and activities focused on creating connections and community with an overall goal of providing practical tips, strategies and resources you can use to make or strengthen connections and build or broaden community for yourself, your friends and family or the people you serve.
Final preparations are still underway but participants can expect opportunities to learn effective ways to reach out and support others; share or explore successful strategies to build supportive relationships within home, school, and communities or through other partnerships; learn about opportunities to utilize lived experience as a tool to educate and inform; hear about current children’s mental health projects and initiatives and the priorities of youth and families, get creative by sharing what connectedness, community, and being acknowledged or supported looks or feels like to you through art and more!
Making connections and encouraging the development of strong supportive communities and collaborative family, peer and partner relationships has been at the heart of the work of ACMH since the beginning and is central to our mission of ensuring that All Michigan children, youth and young adults with mental health challenges and their families live in a safe, welcoming community with access to needed services and supports.
